Courage is the enthusiasm and choice that encounters fear, pain, uncertainty and danger. It is that force that pushes you to get comfortable in your uncomfortable zone. It is the driver of risk-taking. And it undoubtedly defines one’s character.
Fear is quite the opposite of courage. Fear is a tough barrier and once you get through it, there lies something great. In life, the best things always lies on the other side of fear. ‘God put the best things on the other side of fear!‘
It is completely okay if you feel fear.
But what matters is the choice of whether you allow it to make you or break you. The choice of whether you’ll let fear control you or not. Nelson Mandela said that a brave man is not he who doesn’t feel afraid, but he who conquers that fear.
Courage is not the absence of fear, but the triumph over it!Nelson Mandela
Here are a few reasons why courage is important and also how you can acquire it pretty easily.
1: Nothing’s possible if there isn’t courage
Courage is the only weapon with which you can break the barrier of fear. You must awaken the ‘fearless you’ inside if you are determined to achieve something. People become successful because of their readiness to dare and the ability to endure. In today’s world, everybody has dreams and set goals but only a few like you and I are willing to pay the price. Do not ever quit until you make it because it will be worth it in the end. Have a positive mental attitude and fill your heart with courage!
If there’s a storm ahead of you, fly above or through them instead of running away from it. Because there’s something on the other side that awaits you.
2: Courage makes progress
Do you think we’d have vaccines now if Edward Jenner hadn’t had the courage to test it on his gardener’s son? Do you think we’d have the light bulb if Thomas Edison had the fear of failure or wasn’t courageous enough to try it out 10,000 times!? All the great things that have ever happened in this world took courage, consistency and enormous risks. All the growth takes place only if there’s endurance in your mind. And your mind gets stronger and stronger as you muster and use courage.
You are unstoppable. Even the raging storms can’t stop you from getting what you want. The only person capable of stopping you is ‘you’. Do not let fear or self-doubt obstruct your path.
3: It gives you more control over your emotions
Fear leads to anxiety. Anxiety leads to anger. Anger leads to hate. Hate leads to suffering and ultimately the result is regret.
Whereas courage breeds happiness in the long run. It gives you more control over your emotions as you get to reward yourself. The path of courage gives you a sense of accomplishment with which you can grow more.
It takes courage to anything to do anything in life. The only way you can prove yourself that you have courage is to just take that leap of faith!
