Self-confidence is not something that people inherit when they are born. It is that constant effort that silences our inner critic of self-doubt. Self-confidence is a skill you have to develop or just as Maxwell Maltz you’ll be driving your life with your handbrake on! Low self-esteem has the potential to land you in horrible places. High self-esteem and self-confidence will lead you to places you always aspired to be. So which one do you choose?
Here are 4 ways to boost your self-confidence and be the best version of yourself across life!
1: Believe that self-doubt and negative thoughts do not exist
Doubt and negative thoughts are the major killers of dreams. In fact, they are the only killers of dreams. At some point in life, you must have come across some of these 2 murderers. Either they make you or break you. It is your choice. Successful people know how to handle this.
This is because they replace self-doubt and low self-esteem with high self-confidence and courage. The best way which for most people has worked is the belief that it doesn’t exist.
They are fabricated and conjured up. Give self-doubt and negative thoughts your least attention. They don’t get a share in your mind. This way they’ll weed themselves out and something else will take its place.
High self-confidence and high self-esteem.
2: Replace ‘I can’t do it’ with ‘How can I do it?!
We see a lot of people quitting on working towards their dream. This is most probably because at some point in their journey things didn’t go how they expected it to go. But there is also a choice here.
If you have faith that you can do it then most probably you’ll be right. The reverse is also equally probable. That’s what separates successful people from the rest.
There is no successful person in this world who hasn’t failed at least once in their lifetime. If doubt criticizes you and your inner critic negatively baptizes you, then ask yourself a simple question
‘How can I do it?’
At least this way, somewhere in your mind the solution is cooking up!
There are 2 kinds of people in this world
- One – who say ‘I’m broke’
- Two – who say ‘How can I be rich?’
There is a big difference in the mindset of these two kinds of people. If you are the second type of person I assure you that you will be successful soon enough!
3: Be grateful for what you have
Your mind only allows negativity to come inside your life when you start to hate yourself for the things you don’t possess. You must always redirect your mind towards the positive side even if it always tends to go the other way.
Always be grateful for yourself and the world. If you want something in life then do it with what you have or acquire things to achieve it.
If something good is about to happen then don’t think about the possibility of any negative outcome. Of course, you have to be ready for anything and everything. But let your mind be focused on the positive side rather than the negative side as the universal law of attraction is always receiving data from you!
4: Accomplish small goals every day
This is the best way to boost your self-confidence. Admiral McRaven said in his famous speech that – ‘If you want to change the world, start off by making your bed.’ I first found it pointless. But when I gave it enough attention something good did happen. They say that if you win the morning you win the day. After I cultivated this habit I felt that my productivity improved.
So stay positive and focused. There are a lot of day-to-day activities which you do to simply feel good about. For example – If you have a habit to jog every day then set new boundaries and explore new territories or when you exercise to see if you can do 10 reps more. Whatever you do, see if you can get a bit more out of it.
Reward yourself with gratitude every time you accomplish something. Whether it is big or small.
